Port of Barcelona

This painting shows a view of the port seen from the sea. The building was the old Maritime Authority offices, a circular structure that stood at the end of the East breakwater. The tower above it is the old lighthouse that was built in 1772, but which was turned into a clock in the early 20th century. The painting represents a lively, colourful view of a space in which sailors and fishermen coexisted.
