Portrait of a Gentleman

Veronese painterlate XVI century

Museo di Castelvecchio

Museo di Castelvecchio
Verona, Italy

The painting depicts the front half-length portrait of a man with a beard and mustache wearing a dark suit with a white ruff and over a jacket with white fur cuffs; he holds his right hand open on his chest and has a plinth with a broken column behind him. There is no doubt that the portrait is ascribed to a Veronese painter active in the last decade of the 16th century.
