Purchased in 1964 from Alexandre Ferreira da Silva Campos, who was the son of the person portrayed – Mara Ema Ferreira da Silva. Mara Ema Ferreira da Silva was the daughter of the actors Virginia and Augusto Ferreira da Silva. This painting is a conventional rendering, the sitter is in a formal setting with the attire to match.
