Portrait of a youth as an artist

Fra Galgario1730 approx.

Sforzesco Castle

Sforzesco Castle
Milan, Italy

The young model is portrayed holding a hand rest tied to a
stick, essential tools for a painter. The
painting is part of the series of "heads of character", but also of
the series of portraits with "extravagant costumes" that used a
blue-red combination and were very dear to the artist. The strange cap worn by the youth recurs several times
in the portraits, often ironic, of Fra ’Galgario, declined in various ways.
