This marble portrait sculpture was found in the rubble of the cryptoporticus. It was dated to approximately 40 A.D., about the time when it is thought the forum was built. Agrippina the Elder, mother-in-law of the Emperor Claudius and grand-mother of Nero, appears here in a representation by a provincial artist, copying a so-called "Capitol-Venice type" Italian model.
