This portrait of Ananthalakshmi, the wife of Mulam Tirunal, the nephew of Ayilyam Tirunal, is a classic. Tampi focuses on the face of the royal and the slightly upturned chin subtly hints her position of authority in the family. The detailing of her jewellery is exquisite as is the expertly-done hair-do in a manner preferred by women of royal and noble lineage. Tampi's works reveal a strong influence of Ravi Varma right down to his usage of flowers, namely Jasmine and Rose which Ravi Varma commonly used in his paintings.
