Ca’ Granda – Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico
Milan, Italy

Angelica Aspesi Corbetta is an indirect benefactor of the hospital. Legitimate heir of the benefactor Giovan Battista Corti, with her sister Giovanna Aspesi Fattina and Angela Tentorio, does not oppose the will in favor of the Hospital (on March 21, 1664), on the contrary collaborates in the dispute brought by the Tax Office that wanted to get hold of the assets. While the portrait of Giovan Battista Corti does not appear among those of the benefactors, there are those of Angelica Aspesi Corbetta, in fact, of her sister Giovanna Aspesi Fattina and Angela Tentorio, his three heirs. The author of the portrait, of modest quality, is unknown, with the Aspesi coat of arms (an aspis superimposed on a castle and its motto in Latin) at the top right and the name of the deceased: probably not commissioned by the Chapter but arrived with the assets of the 'heredity. The Chapter inserts him in the Picture Gallery, considering Angelica Aspesi Corbetta as benefactor.
