Eva Frederick as another of Frida’s friends, an Afro-American woman of whom little else is known. Frida did a drawing and an oil portrait of her during her time in the United States. The painter gave special attention to her subject’s feminine grooming: the necklace, the lace of the blouse, and the finely-combed hair framing the face. An additional detail is the ribbon on which the artist leaves a testimony to her subject’s identity.
