Pascin is a prominent, cosmopolitan figure in the 20th-century Modern Art, who was the romantic embodiment of the wandering bohemian artist. A virtuoso drawer, Pascin gave vent to his talent in his caricatures, watercolours, oil paintings and graphic prints.
Born in the city of Vidin, later he moved to Bucharest, then Vienna. From 1903 to 1904 he found himself in Munich, where he studied at the Moritz Heymann Art School. In 1905 he adopted the pseudonym Pascin, and settled in Paris, becoming a stalwart of the Montparnasse and Café du Dome bohemian artistic community. He ended his life on June 2, 1930 in his studio in Paris.
