Luigi Vergani (1837-1926), a native of Morbegno (Sondrio), was left fatherless and comes to Milan with his family in search of work; first bank clerk, then stockbroker, and financier of numerous public and private companies, president of Banca di Credito Lombardo, of the Lake Maggiore Shipping Company, one of the founders of Edison, one of the partners for the concession of the Baths of Montecatini, which is "launched" as an important therapeutic resort.
