Paolina Brigola (1841-1927) married the wealthy merchant Francesco Cauda; their only daughter died at a very early age. When she becomes a widow, she decides to donate 100,000 lire to the Maggiore Hospital, certain of fulfilling the wishes expressed by her husband and to remember her memory.
