Leon Chwistek portrayed Jan Stanisław Bystroń, a Polish sociologist and ethnographer, who focused his research on folklore. Additionally, he was interested in the issues of Polish culture - not only in the country. In the 1920s and 1930s, he conducted research looking for Polish traces in the Middle East and North Africa. Thanks to the collected materials, the study "Poles in the Holy Land, Syria and Egypt, 1141-1914" was created. Bystroń was a member of PAU, PAN and Scientific Societies in Warsaw and Lviv.
