Shu-Shunsui was a surviving retainer of China`s Ming Dynasty, and after crossing over to Japan, was welcomed in the court of Mito Province. He greatly influenced the Lord of Mito, Tokugawa Mitsukuni. Shibano Ritsuzan was a Confucian scholar from Sanuki Province.
