This is a pictorial record of the Shimabara War. It depicts the scenes that feudal lords in Kyushu region gathered and encircle the Hara-jo Castle in 1638; the process of the all-out attack on the castle in February; and the situation after the fall of the castle.
In the picture on display, the Tachibana troops take up a position with the Hosokawa troops at the third bailey of the castle.
The detailed and accurate descriptions of this record is far ahead of other pictorial records depicting the attack of Hara-jo Castle.
