Postcard:Beach Scene, Coney Island, N.Y.

On warm summer days between 1897 and 1964, many New Yorkers flocked the beaches and legendary amusement parks of Coney Island. Visitors enjoyed varied experiences at Luna Park, Dreamland, and Steeplechase Park: rides and attractions ranged from breathtaking to bizarre. Although each park closed by the middle of the 20th century, the immensely popular Luna Park reopened in May 2010-its main entrance modeled after the 1903 original.
