The grand Palazzo Piombino (1890), designed by architect Gaetano Koch (1849-1910) for the Boncompagni Ludovisi, served as their residence only until summer 1892 because of financial disaster. In 1900 it was sold to the Italian state and occupied by Queen Margherita.
