This Specimen has a Vote, without any trouble to get it. Women are going to gaol to get theirs'. Pro-female suffrage postcard comparing the irony of those 'irresponsible' men who are allowed to vote with women who are denied the vote. Here a gentleman, rather the worse for drink, clings to a lamp post beside an advertisement announcing a Votes for Women meeting.

This was one in a series of satirical postcards designed by Frederic G Dutton for the National Women's Social and Political Union Lancashire Headquarters based at 164 Oxford Road Manchester in 1909. Known as the 'exhibition' series it is probable they were originally published for sale at the Women's Exhibition held in Knightsbridge London in 1909. The sale of popular, comic postcards raised funds for the campaign and helped to spread the Votes for Women message by ridiculing the anti-suffrage argument and the injustice of the voting system.
