Pre-sale of SPS commemorative stamp

The turn on of the SPS was commemorated in France by the issue of a CERN stamp. The date of issue, 22 October 1976, coincided with the first tests of the beam line taking particles to experiments in the West Hall. At this day the stamps were sold in Prévessin, while the general sale in France took place the day after. The stamp is designed by Jacques Gauthier.
