Preparatory sketch

The maple tree is a theme suitable for display in autumn, but here only one leaf has been given colour, providing a sharp accent. Two birds above watch a third below, cleaning its plumage. The family name ‘Taki’ means ‘waterfall’, and perhaps here, it is a pictorial signature
