Communist bloc’s first partially free elections were held in Poland on 4 June 1989. Solidarity’s election poster is presented by Jacek Kurczewski. The poster designed by Tomasz Sarnecki and bearing references to the “High Noon” western movie became a symbol of the June elections and of the democratic transformation in Poland.
