A view of the buildings of Długi Targ and Długa street in Gdańsk ruined by warfare in March of 1945. On the right the Main Town Hall, with the spire missing from the tower, is visible. On the right of the Town Hall is the Artus Court, partially covered by trees. On the left destroyed porches can be seen, as well as the ruin of the Schumann House behind some trees. The drawing is one of eight created by Erich Scholtis, an artist from Gdańsk, and published as a set. The set includes an introduction written by the author that describes his experience and emotions during the documentation of the destruction of his hometown.
