On January 1, 1875, a unified national currency of one mark to 100 pfennig was introduced in Germany, which also entailed the issuing of new stamps. The trademark of the new stamp series, which was valid until 1891, consisted of a number or, as shown here, the imperial eagle under the crown with ribbons, each in an oval.
