This program playbill documents "Howdy, Mr. Ice of 1950," one of the ice show extravaganzas produced jointly by Arthur Wirtz and skater Sonja Henie (1912-1969). Henie is credited for inventing the ice show. She is also famous for promoting competitive ice skating and making it the important Olympic event that it is today. Henie was the first to wear white skates and a short dance outfit; she was the first to incorporate dance moved into her programs. In Hollywood she was one of the highest-paid actresses of her day and is considered one of the best figure skaters in history.
