Programme for the opening performances of the Abbey Theatre on 27th December 1904. Three one acts plays were produced on the opening night, namely On Baile's Strand by W.B. Yeats, Spreading the News by Lady Augusta Gregory and Kathleen Ni Houlihan by W.B. Yeats. For the remainder of the run the third play on the triple bill alternated between Kathleen Ni Houlihan by W.B. Yeats and In the Shadow of the Glen by John Millington Synge. Annie Horniman's credit for costume design, is the only credit listed. Edward Keegan, listed as one of the Kings in On Baile's Strand would later take part in the Easter Rising 1916 at the South Dublin garrison under Eamonn Ceannt. Wounded in action he lost his position with The Irish Times newspaper due to his involvement in the Rising.
