Watercolor painting of Bath Iron Works proposed DX class destroyer, which later became the DD-963 Spruance Class. BIW, however, did not receive the bid. Starboard quarter view of the ship underway at sea with moderate seas. The painting is of the daytime with a teal blue sky that is partly cloudy. The ship has white '963' on bow and nine or ten sailors are visible on deck. Navy helicopter '65' sitting near stern on main deck.
