Ronnie van Hout demonstrates his interest in horror with Psycho. Picking up on film references, it features the artist’s self-analysis in the starring role. The scale model of the house-on-the-hill in Psycho is straight out of the 1960 film by Alfred Hitchcock. Through the house’s window screens a shadowy video of the artist, performing a schlock knife frenzy.

- Artist biography: Ronnie van Hout was born in Christchurch in 1962. He attended the School of Fine Arts, University of Canterbury from 1980–2, majoring in film. In 1999, van Hout received a Masters of Fine Arts from RMIT University, Melbourne. Since 1981 he has exhibited regularly in Australia and New Zealand , and his work has featured in solo and group shows in the United States, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany. He lives in Melbourne.
