Pteranodon occidentalis Marsh, 1872 is a species of pteranodon, a genus of pterosaur or winged dinosaurs that appeared from the late Triassic period until the end of the Cretaceous period. Pteranodon occidentalis Marsh, 1872 was first described by the well-known paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh. This specimen was collected in 1931 by paleontologist George F. Sternberg in Logan County, Kansas, United States and dates from the Cretaceous period.
