The texts of many world religions, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and others, include a variation of the tale of Noah's Ark. According to the story, God, enraged at man's wickedness, resolved to send a great flood to cleanse the earth. However, he chose one righteous man, Noah, to save. God instructs Noah to build an ark, onto which he must board himself, his family, and two of each of the world's animals. Noah obeys God's word and survives the Great Flood. Though many religious stories have become the subject of children's toys and games, Noah's Ark ranks as one of the most prolific, captured in games, pull toys, blocks, and especially play sets. Though the popularity of religious toys began to wane in the 20th century, the rise of the Christian Right in recent years has again created a market for toys with "Christian" themes.
