Hey, kids, now you, too, can fly your very own UFO! In the years following World War II, popular interest in space took off. Already well known for its line of pull toys for very young children, the Fisher-Price Company entered the space race with the "Space Blazer," which it produced from 1953 to 1955. It was an unusual toy for a company known more for cute animals, especially its "Snoopy Sniffer," the most well-known pull toy in the world. This 14-inch, wooden rocket ship features a warning bell, spinning radar antenna, full-color lithography, steel axles, and a high-compression dome designed to protect the smiling Martian from the roughest treatment a child can devise. During its short life, the toy proved extremely popular and illustrated the company founder's insistence that its toys "capture the child's imagination immediately."
