Arrowheads appeared during the Middle Paleolithic and lasted until the end of prehistory. The first ones were made by Neanderthals. During the Upper Paleolithic, when Homo Sapiens arrived, arrowheads became thinner and lighter, achieving a high degree of technical specialization. They come in different shapes and were made with different materials such as quartzite, flint and obsidian. With one pointed end and a sharp edge, these pieces were used as hunting weapons, usually attached to the end of a spear or wooden shaft. These tools are good indicators of chronological age because their different shapes show us the cultural context to which they belonged.
