Qing-dynasty Women’s Satin Padded Jacket with Floral Medallions Featuring Playing Toddlers Front View

This padded jacket has a standing collar, a diagonal placket from neck to right waist, short broad sleeves and two side slits embellished with ruyi-shaped cloud patterns. It adopted blue satin with inconspicuous patterns of small floral medallions and butterflies for outer fabric, and plain red silk twill for lining. Its main body is carpeted with floral medallions featuring playing toddlers as well as animal and botanical patterns including butterflies, flowers, cricket, etc. With a neckline embellished with motifs of colorful flowers and toddlers on an ecru ground as well as ruyi-shaped clouds, its sleeves are decorated with patterns of colored bats, flowers, Chinese character of longevity, fruits and insects.
