Radio, Braun Lectron hobby kit radio receiver, plastic / electronic components, designed by Dieter Rams and Jurgen Greubel, made by Braun AG, Germany, 1967. The Braun Lectron kit radio is a small three transistor radio, featuring a mercury switch to turn it off and on. When the radio is on its back, it is off, when upright, it is on. It is rectangular in shape and is housed in a bright white plastic front, with only two knobs on the front positioned to the left side, tuning and volume, and on the right two slotted sections, one rectangular like the radio itself, and one square, behind which is the speaker. The rear and side panels are clear plastic (or perspex) enabling one to see the workings inside.
