Receipt for The Liberator signed by William Cooper Nell (1816-1874) on May 25th 1841.

William C. Nell was a native of the Beacon Hill black community and became a leading community advocate and abolitionist as well as a journalist. He worked closely with William Lloyd Garrison on The Liberator, including, in this case, selling subscriptions.
