The mechanism of this record player is hand powered by a crank handle. The crank turns the gears inside the cabinet, winding a spring, which then unwinds, turning the record. The needle is placed on the record manually, and the record begins to play. The wooden cabinet serves as a sound box, and the volume is controlled by how far the three flaps on the front are opened or closed.
