This is the traditional wooden furniture, used as a cosmetics case to which a mirror was attached. Red-lacquered furniture was either used in the court or bestowed from the court. This red-lacquered comb case was used in the court, whose thick red color renders totally different atmosphere from natural wooden case used by the common public or from luxurious lacquer inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
