This 1,8 kg heavy gold necklace was found in 1977 near Kalmergården to the west of the lake Tissø. It is manufactured in the 10th century AD and measures about 30 cms in diameter. The gold alone was worth 500 pieces of cattle in the Viking Age. The archaeological excavations have revealed that the goldring belonged to a very rich Viking, maybe the owner of the magnate estate at Tissø. It is not known how it ended in the ground. Maybe it was ment as an offering to the Gods?
