Refugees on their way to their final destination. Many scores of people travelled on foot after the 1947 Partition of Indian subcontinent, leaving the country of their forefathers. The people photographed here left India for Pakistan.

This image is from the collection of F.E. Chaudhry, the only known local Pakistani photographer who captured the events at the time.
