At the bus station in Kisumu, refugees from Uganda with their children wait for some help. Some of these Kenyans lost all they had when they fled Uganda. After a disputed election brought Milton Obote to power in Uganda in 1980, one of his opponents, Yoweri Museveni, led an armed resistance against the government. The subsequent Ugandan “Bush War” between Museveni’s National Resistance Army (NRA) and the government’s Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) lasted from 1981 to 1986. During the coup and surrounding fighting, many foreigners stationed in Uganda fled across the border to Kenya. Kenya's renowned photojournalist Mohamed Amin, also known as 'Six Camera Mo' captured some of Africa's defining moments. He managed to use his cameras for more than a generation to bring East Africa’s most powerful stories into world view.
