This flag is made in accordance with production specifications in the military book of the Tachibana family. Only the location of the family crest is different from the specification which instructs placing the crest in the middle of the flag. In this flag, there are two crests represented: ‘Gyoyo’ on the left and ‘Gion-mamori’ on the right. Gyoyo crest was used by the first Lord Muneshige while Gion-mamori was used by the second Lord Tadashige. Therefore, this flag is considered to have used in the Shimabara War (1637-38) which these two lords participated together.
