Religious Rituals Performed Before Burning the Huts

Holi, the ancient Indian Festival of Colours is celebrated across the country in a variety of ways. The Spring festival of Yaoshang in Manipur begins after sunset in villages with the Yaoshang Mei thaba, or the symbolic burning of the Straw Hut. Rituals are performed in the symbolic huts before they are burned.
