Defined by many as the voice of the generation of the 1980s, Russo is a Brazilian singer and composer, founder of Legião Urbana, one of the largest Brazilian rock bands. He died in 1996 due to AIDS complications. The bronze monument signed by the cartoonist Ique reproduces the natural size of the singer and was opened in 2012 on Governor's Island, where Renato lived with his family during childhood.
