Rescue basket

The rescue basket stretcher, which is still used today by the fire brigade and rescue services to save people on rough terrain, originally comes from the mining industry. Pit rescue services developed the rescue basket in order to rescue miners involved in an accident from areas that were difficult to access underground. The rescue basket is designed as a tub and offered the possibility of transporting injured miners from confined areas of the pit and in doing so to ensure the stable position of the patient.
