Depictions of scenes of the Resurrection in the center of this composition, the Anastasis: in the lower half Christ's descent into hell, where he saves saints and kings of the Old Testament. The surrounding scenes represent a series of religious commemorations of the Orthodox Church, the Birth of the Virgin, the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple, the Annunciation, the Nativity, Pentecost and the Dormition of the Virgin, among others.
