The decoration of this chapel dates back to the first half of 17th century in what is known as the Mannerist style – classical, sober and balanced, similar to the style of the main chapel. The retable is attributed to Jerónimo de Correia, who probably also created the retables of the chancel and of the Chapels of St. Francis Xavier and of St. Anthony. Just as in the chancel, the circular scene at the top represents " The Holy Family". The central painting features "Jesus Among the Doctors of the Law", and is atributed to José Avelar Rebelo . It also presents the 17th century sculptures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, hence the chapel's name. The multicoloured gilt woodwork is limited to parts of the columns, to the friezes at the top of the frames, entablature, finial and a number of decorated areas between the columns.
