Museo de Zaragoza
Zaragoza, Spain

A bronze bust of Ricardo Magdalena Tabuenca: a multi-faceted artist, painter, designer, and architect who was one of the key exponents of Spanish architectural historicism and eclecticism. He died in 1910 and is shown at an advanced age in this sculpture. His facial features are clear to see, including his thick beard and serious, penetrating look. Through his works, José Bueno hoped to breathe new life into the Spanish sculpture of the first half of the century and remove it further from nineteenth-century academicism.
