Zlatko Prica was born in Pecs in 1916; in 1922 he moved to Zagreb and in 1937 enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1940 (Omer Mujadžić and Ljubo Babić). In 1941 he was arrested and sent to a camp near Koprivnica. He busied himself with illustration, and in 1950 spent time in Stockholm, and in 1952 several months in India. He was a member of the Mart group from 1957 and was one of the founders of the Forum Gallery (1969). From 1988 Prica was a member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. As well as painting, he was engaged in printmaking. He died in 2003 in Rijeka.
