From the Artist: My work is an evolving study of the relationship between humans and nature and the impact that we have on our climate and leave on behind. This body of work became particularly important to my sanity during the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, March 12, 2020, New York. I spent hours in nature, exploring the signs of first Spring and how every aspect thrived as a result of the quiet, untouched landscape as a means of reaching for a connection, instead of feeling like I was just existing. For the first time ever in our lives, the world stood still, together. I watched flowers embark on their journey to a blossom, animals stepping out of hibernation and I could feel the heartbeat of the earth starting again... The winter seasons' stillness was over, but this pandemic was keeping us inside, in fear, in a new season. Being able to escape into nature was a way for me to deal with the impact of suddenly being isolated. I was doing everything in one giant lofty room that served as my studio and living space and with my four cats... I had so succumb to the fact that I was officially a cat lady! To my surprise, what I actually found was a deep sense of healing in the midst of an uncertain world. Photography, watercolor, and graphite/charcoal and chalk drawings were my all day coping mechanisms. What a blessing it turned out to be, really. I feel as if I’ve blossomed with Spring’s colorful petals, blessed and excited to share these works as an offering of healing to you.
