Gown in purple French silk faille. Full-length, it is open at the front to show an underskirt. The front closing bodice is boned . At the back, the bodice and skirt are cut in one piece. It is trimmed with an appliqué of twisted silver braid on a silk core, paillettes and punched sequins which form plant motifs and point d'espagne lace.
This gown, called “vaquero in the English style”, in Spain, or just vaquero, was made in the style of the “robe à l'anglaise” and was in fashion in the last decades of the 18th century. The great novelty of this gown was that it included the boning of the 18th century stays in the bodice of the gown itself.
