Rolly-doll:Red Riding Hood & Wolf

In 1908 the A. Schoenhut Company of Philadelphia first applied for a patent for their "rolly dollies," colorful papier-m퀌�ch퀌� dolls with weighted round bottoms that, when pushed, always returned to their original upright position. Though the concept of the rolly dolly, a toy designed with infants and toddlers in mind, existed long before the 20th century, Schoenhut claimed to have improved the design. The company's 1924 catalog boasted: "To make this fine and interesting line, along with our other well-known toys, we have assembled a large number of NOVEL DESIGNS AND STYLES, finished in the most BRILLIANT COLORS, and constructed so as to be almost UNBREAKABLE, which is an important feature for which we hold PATENTS." Schoenhut's rolly dollies appeared in a variety of sizes and colors and featured different characters, from clowns and dogs to Santa Claus and Little Red Riding Hood. This rolly dolly features wooden figures of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf atop a half sphere base.
