As well as including examples of both men’s and women’s footwear, the Cordwainer College Collection holds tools, prototypes and accessories relating to shoes. This includes a number of spurs. This example is from the late 19thcentury and is made of bronze. This round spur would have been attached to the back of a boot, possibly for military wear. The wearer would have used it to direct the horse they were riding.
